It’s difficult to remember all of your passwords. Especially if you use complex passwords and adhere to the recommended security measures, which include never using the same password across several accounts.
For this reason, built-in password managers for browsers are useful. They keep your passwords in mind. They aren’t flawless in terms of security, though. For instance, the Microsoft Edge password manager makes the claim that your passwords are encrypted, but the details of its encryption technique are unknown. Here are five simple lessons on how to manage your passwords on Edge if you want to regain control of your private information.
How to find saved passwords on Microsoft Edge
The procedures below should help you determine which of your
credentials the browser has saved:
1. Open Microsoft Edge and click the three dots in the top right corner.
2. Click on Settings.
3. Scroll down and click on View advanced settings.
4. Scroll down to Autofill settings and click on Manage passwords.
5. Here you can see all the logins Edge has saved.
View or delete your saved passwords
in Edge browser settings
You must use the Windows Control panel in order to view
saved passwords in Microsoft Edge:
1. Find Credential Manager in the Windows search bar.
2. Click on Credential Manager.
3. Click on Web Credentials.
4. Choose the account you want to see and click on the circle with the arrow.
5. Click Show next to the hidden password.
6. You’ll be prompted to type in your Windows password. Type it in to see the password.
Deleting Passwords
The Microsoft Edge saved passwords must also be deleted using Credential Manager:
1. Go to Credential Manager.
2. Click on Web Credentials.
3. Choose the account you want to see and click on the circle with the arrow.
4. Click Remove below your password.
5. A window will pop up, asking if you’re sure — click Yes.
You can also delete the saved passwords in the browser:
1. Open Microsoft Edge and click the three dots in the top right corner.
2. Click on Settings.
3. Scroll down and click on View advanced settings.
4. Scroll down to Autofill settings and click on Manage passwords.
5. Choose the login you want to delete and click on the x next to it. It’s gone!
